Pretty Boy tells the story of Sean, a young teen struggling with his sexuality and the bullying at high school. After his dad finds some magazines in his room with photos of naked men. His dad goes to great lengths in order to “help” his son to find the light and to become straight. For his eighteenth birthday, his father takes him to a motel to sleep with a prostitute as a way to “fix” his homosexuality. But against his father’s wishes, the prostitute will help Sean to come to terms with his sexuality instead of “fixing” him.
Pretty Boy is an intense, heartfelt and touching coming of age story that’s meant to inspire our youth to follow their hearts. The film won several awards, like Best Narrative Film at the CMG Short Film Festival, Best Mid-Length Narrative at the Miami Independent Film Festival and two Outstanding Achievement Awards at the Humanitarian Film Awards. It’s written, directed and produced by Cameron Thrower. While it stars Nick Eversman (as Sean), Rebekah Tripp (as the prostitute) and Jon Briddell (as the father).
